Veterinary Student Training at EveryPet

Hands-On Experience. Lifesaving Work. Unmatched Mentorship.

At EveryPet, we’re not only committed to ending the cycle of pet homelessness, we’re shaping the future of veterinary medicine. Our student training programs provide aspiring veterinarians with real-world experience in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter and access-to-care services, all under the guidance of seasoned professionals who are passionate about teaching.

Externship Opportunities: Learn Where It Matters Most

EveryPet also offers externships for veterinary students looking to expand their skills beyond the classroom. Students will gain hands-on experience in:

  • High-Quality, High Volume Spay/Neuter: Learn efficient, evidence-based surgical techniques that save lives and prevent suffering.
  • Accessible Care Services: Participate in compassionate, community-focused care within our full-service veterinary hospital, working with pet owners who rely on affordable treatment to keep their pets healthy.
  • Community Engagement: Gain insight into programs and business models that improve community animal welfare and help keep pets in homes.

Personalized Mentorship & Professional Guidance

Our Director of Professional Development oversees all student training initiatives to ensure every extern receives individualized support, structured learning opportunities, and meaningful feedback throughout their experience.

From your very first day, you’ll be paired with experienced veterinarians and technicians who are passionate about teaching and committed to your success. Whether you’re scrubbing in for surgery, performing diagnostic work, or consulting with clients, your mentors will be there to guide you through each step — offering real-time instruction, encouragement, and insight drawn from years of practice.

Vanessa Barreto, CVT

Lead Technician, EveryPet Training Center

I am a CVT that is passionate about community driven medicine through a one health appraoch. I am especially interested in surgery (especially the fast pace of HQHVSN) and am always eager to learn and to then pass that knowledge on to others. I currently have 3 cats and a dog and I enjoy reading, traveling, and crocheting.
