Preparing for Your Appointment:
Share your concerns with your veterinarian – after all, you know your pet better than anyone else does!
– Do not be afraid to ask questions. Make sure you understand the information shared during your visit, and if it is a lot of information, ask for handouts or reputable online sources of information regarding your pet’s condition.
– Bring a urine sample to your appointment if you are seeing the vet for urinary problems. Use a clean disposable Tupperware container to collect your sample the day of your appointment.
– Do not give your dog aspirin, including “doggy” aspirin. Aspirin can have side effects in pets and prevents veterinarians from using proper pain medications due to drug interactions.
– Try not to clean your pet’s ears before coming to your appointment for an ear problem. This will help us collect a good sample to diagnose the source of the problem properly.
– Know your pet’s medications, including heartworm and flea preventative, when they come to their appointment. This is particularly important when the family member who is bringing the pet is not the same as the one who gives the medications.
– We require that all cats enter our facility in a box, carrier, or cage. We have boxes for sale for $8.50 at the front desk if you do not have one (come in to purchase before bringing the cat in). This policy in enacted for your cat’s safety, so thank you for understanding.
