Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with EveryPet!
Remote and Corporate Volunteer Opportunities Currently Available!
Volunteers play a critical role in carrying out our mission to keep dogs and cats in their homes and out of shelters and to provide low-cost spay/neuter services with an emphasis on feral/community cats.
Without our dedicated team of volunteers to assist with everything from Clinic Care to Laundry, from Food Bank to Front Desk, and everything in between, we simply would not be able to do what we do:
● Treat over 200 pets a day, 7 days a week in our vet clinics
● Perform over 20,000 spay and neuter surgeries annually
● Distribute 280,000 pounds of pet food annually to families in need at our Food Bank
● Help maintain a 90% or higher save rate in shelters and keep Jacksonville “no-kill”
Please read the information below to learn more about the process of becoming an EveryPet volunteer. If you have any questions:

- Pet Food Bank – Sometimes families can scarcely afford to feed themselves, let alone their beloved pets. Thanks to this community-driven program, we help make it easier for these families to keep pets in homes and out of shelters. We have distributed more than 1.8 million pounds of pet food to improve the quality of life for pets and people. You will assist with client check-in, paperwork verification, and food distribution. Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 40 lbs at a time.
- Hospital Ward Assistant –Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate in this activity. You will help with cleaning and refilling pet food dishes, changing litter boxes, cleaning kennels, and doing laundry.
- Greeter – Customer service and a friendly rapport is key to ensuring our clients receive the care they need. As the Greeter, you will be tasked with standing in the front lobby to welcome guests. You will direct them to the front desk to check in, answer some frequently asked questions, and direct them to where they are designated to wait. You may also help customers with paperwork or the front desk representatives with other tasks as needed. Your role is to keep the environment calm, friendly, and organized.
- Front Office Assistant – This position requires a brief interview with the Volunteer Manager. As the Front Office Assistant, you will aid the Customer Service staff by performing tasks such as greeting clients, answering general questions, providing general administrative assistance with scanning, copying, filing, and any other tasks that may assigned.
Norwood Location
- Laundry and Maintenance Assistant– EveryPet is one of the largest spay and neuter clinics in the country! We see on average 200 clients a day in our veterinary clinic, accumulating an exorbitant amount of laundry. It takes a lot of manpower to keep our linens clean and sterile for surgeries. When you assist with this very important job, it frees up our busy staff. The maintenance portion of this job includes tasks such as cleaning feral cat cages- another high-volume task that would take staff away from direct-care clinic duties.
- Feral Cat/Kennel Assistant– As the Kennel Assistant, you will assist with feeding and watering animals and handling animals to and from kennels. This role helps the team process incoming feral cats (in cages) for spay/neuter surgery. This includes helping out in the Feral Cat Ward with sanitizing kennels, cleaning and filling cat food and water dishes, and keeping the ward clean in general for our furry patients. You will also help with cleaning the kennels and floors and walls of the Cat and Dog Wards. You must be able to lift 40 lbs individually and be comfortable around feces, urine, and feral cats. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to participate in this activity.
- Cat Care Assistant –Feral Freedom is a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program. TNR is the most effective method for controlling feral cat population growth. Using this technique, community/feral cats living outside are trapped, spayed/neutered, ear-tipped (the universal symbol of a sterilized cat), and then returned to their outdoor home. To date, the Feral Freedom program has saved approximately 30,000 cats from being euthanized in city shelters. That means there are a lot of feral cats that come through our doors every day- and we need your help! The Cat Care Assistant helps the team process incoming feral cats (in cages) for spay/neuter surgery. This is a physical job and volunteers must be able to lift 10 pounds and able to remain active for the duration of the shift. This position is not suitable for pregnant women.
- Veterinary Clinic/Hospital Assistant – Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate in this activity. As the Veterinary Hospital Assistant, you will help with doing laundry, scanning documents for patients, opening syringe boxes, assembling e-collars, cleaning kennels, and other duties as assigned.
