❤️🩹 Impact Story: Dai and Reeses ❤️🩹
When Dai and her mother, Carla, found a sickly 8-week-old puppy behind their car, they were in unimaginable hardship—grieving the recent loss of Dai’s father, facing homelessness, and navigating Carla’s epilepsy diagnosis. Despite having almost nothing, they offered a backyard breeder $20 to save the puppy, later named Reeses. The coincidence that Reeses shares a birthday with Dai’s late father felt like fate. Though Dai had never been a dog person, Reeses quickly became her emotional support animal—and a source of healing for the whole family. With help from our Cassat team, who provided deworming medication they couldn’t afford, and most recently a spay surgery at our Norwood clinic, Reeses is thriving.
Dai shared, “Through it all, the one stable thing in my family has been Reeses. She knows me better than I know myself. I love her like she’s my child.” Read the full story here. |

✨ April Spay Days: Two Clinics, Dozens of Lives Changed ✨
This month, we hosted two incredible Spay Day clinics thanks to the generous support of the John R. Peterson Foundation and our dedicated partners.
Over 40 vet students from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine joined us to gain hands-on experience in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) techniques. With expert guidance from seasoned surgery coaches, they provided lifesaving care to 23 dogs and 23 cats, reducing future overpopulation and supporting pets across Northeast Florida.
We’re so grateful to our partners—including Animal Care & Protective Services, Cats Angels, FIX THEM ALL, Lucky Cat Adoptions, and Dobie Ranch Rescue—for helping make these events such a success! |

| 💙 Volunteer Spotlight 💙
We’re incredibly grateful for the volunteers who continue to power our mission. UNF Pre-Dental students recently went above and beyond—restoring outdoor cat condos, refreshing our Volunteer Den, and tackling big cleanup projects.
Volunteers also played a vital role in our Paws-itive Wellness and Nourish event, helping pets and families receive essential care with compassion and heart. Your time and dedication make a real difference every day!
